Tenth Birthday Celebration Party:
On Saturday May 4th more than 75 people attended the tenth birthday at Cornerstone. It was an outstanding night as we celebrated ten years of service to the Dandenong community. Mrs Lyn Dickson read her poems and the highlight of the night was the dress up items by Barbara, Alison and Wilma from the Wednesday team. It was ten years ago that the Drop In first opened catering to homeless youth. A pessimistic Councillor of the time said it would be lucky to last 6 months. With a team of mainly volunteer christian workers it has become a significant feature of the Dandenong and District community. Chairman of the Board, Ps. David Grice and Barbara Siddall, the originator of the vision for Cornerstone cut a scrumptious cake provided by Hallam Bakery. Throughout 2002 there will be a number of activities to celebrate our tenth year of operation.

Reading and Writing Group:
The second course of this nature has been completed under the leadership of Paul Briscoe and Marion Jones. It culminated in a bus trip to the Dandenongs with a visit to Emerald Lake. Making Ends Meet! If you are interested in making the most of the funds you receive Paul will be running this program in the near future. See Paul Briscoe for details of time and place.

Newspaper Articles:
Over the last couple of weeks there has been a series of articles in the local press on the welfare needs of the area. Two of the articles focused on Cornerstone. As a result of these articles there has been a number of positive responses that have assisted us through the provision of goods and volunteer opportunities.

Saturday Night Program:
The Board of Management has decided that on the third Saturday of each month that the program will be led by Ian and Helen McFarland, David Monroe and Charlie Hensman. This will allow Paul Briscoe a night off. However, for this month only it will be Saturday 11th. Naturally, the new team on this night will bring its own flavour to the night's activities.

Former Chairman Marries:
Don Cameron who has been involved with Cornerstone since the beginning is getting married on May 11th. Don led the Friday night program for many years. All at Cornerstone send their congratulations. Awareness Driver Education Dates. Leaders please note that on these dates Cornerstone will be hired to the above group and adjustments may need to be made to activities if a clash of dates occurs.
