THURSDAY NIGHT TRAINING SESSIONS:

These were held on a Thursday evening during September. The first two nights were geared to our great team of volunteers to assist them as they work at Cornerstone. Session 1 outlined the vision, session 2 the role of the Cornerstone volunteer. Session 3 was a leadership training session and Session 4 was on handling stress. Each night was well attended with up to 40 people attending the sessions. The concept of making it part of the normal Thursday Night Drop in program worked well with many, who attended the program, staying to share in Drop In activities. Pastor Max led the teaching program.

Reading and Writing Program.
This program will commence on Wednesday October 16th following the Wednesday Drop In program. See Paul and/or Barry for details.

BREAKING THE BARRIERS WALK......
FRIDAY OCTOBER 11th from 11.00 a.m. through the streets of Dandenong to the Park. This is a MIDDWAY (Mental illness doesnąt discriminate. What about you?) initiative. Cornerstone will open on the 11th until 10.30 a.m. and will then encourage all supporters of Cornerstone to gather with us at ERMHA Robinson St Dandenong for the commencement of the march at 11.00 am.

LIVE AGAIN SEMINAR: 2003.
4 Pro-active Drug Issue Workshops.

This is an initiative of Paul Briscoe Asst. Manager at Cornerstone who represents Cornerstone on the Dande Drug Action Committee. Cornerstone research has identified the families of addicts as an area of great need for assistance. It is hoped that this seminar will be a helpful start and provide a wealth of practical information to assist families as they cope with an addict. Paul Briscoe can be contacted at Cornerstone 9794 5654 or on cornerstone1@bigpond.com. Originally planned for 2002 the seminar will now be held in early 2003. This will allow Paul to obtain the services of topline speakers and avoid clashes with other programs in the district over the next two months.
